Film Overview

Few films from Iran make it to screens in the US; Sa'ied Ebrahimifar's first feature is a worthy import. As the director states, “[My film] does not rely on story line or dialogue, but delivers its message through visuals.” Few films achieve the visual mastery exhibited in FLAME OF THE POMEGRANATE, with every frame so perfectly composed, so carefully lit. A photographer, who is to produce images for an upcoming play, is hunting for interesting subjects. He comes across an old man who has just had a heart attack, and tries to save the man's life. The photographer's efforts to determine the old man's identity give him a new idea for his pictures, and launch him on a journey of imagination and nostalgia.
