THE FLYING SNEAKER

You will believe that a sneaker can fly. That math homework and soap bubbles turn into whimsical animals. That building blocks hang in mid air to form impossible opera singers. This all happens after young Alec receives a mysterious cocoon sent by his seaman father. From it hatches a doll like “butterfly fairy,” whose magic powers finish Alec's chores and give him the best toys a boy could want. But gradually, Alec realizes that only by doing for himself does he gain a sense of accomplishment. A masterpiece of exquisite live action animation and gentle moralizing, this is another winner from Les Productions la F8te, whose dedication to quality kids' entertainment has shown in such past CIFF Family Film Festival entries as “Reach For The Sky” (1992) and “Vincent and Me” (1991).
