About This Film
Film Overview
Setting: an orphanage. Time period: post-WWII. Reigning political party: The Communists. Young Lem, like so many other war orphans, is caught by communist soldiers and taken to an orphanage. But “orphanage” is a nice word for what the place really is: an ideological labor camp where children of the ?enemies of the revolution? are being reprogrammed. Order, discipline and even worse rule Lem?s days, until the arrival of a mysterious boy named Isaac. Lem has a premonition that something unusual is going to happen, and from the very beginning the charismatic Isaac is the first one to question authority?and to endure the brutal consequences. When Lem seeks out Isaac as a friend, the orphanage will never be the same again. Director Trajkov delves into the unconditional bond of friendship as the boys? only asset?and their only way to survive.
