About This Film
Film Overview
Based on a true story, THE INTOUCHABLES tells the comical, endearing tale of an unlikely friendship between a quadriplegic and an ex-con. Philippe is a disabled aristocrat, spending his days confined to his wheelchair, cooped up in his mansion after a paragliding accident left him paralyzed from the neck down. Driss is a candid young man from the projects, recently released from jail after a robbery conviction and with no place to call home. When Driss shows up at Philippe's mansion to interview for the role of Philippe's live-in caretaker, the two seemingly opposite men meet for the first time, igniting a bond that will ultimately change both of their lives. As the two men begin to view the world through one another's eyes, they discover they have more in common than they thought, and that each man can teach the other how to live life to its full potential. A feel-good dramatic comedy, THE INTOUCHABLES has developed into a cultural phenomenon in France, having recently become the second most successful film in French box office history—only nine weeks after its release. (In French with subtitles) – M.M.
