The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne

Judith's romantic interest in madden is that of middle-aged desperation, as is Madden's financial interest in her. Both are crushed by the horrible realization that their expectations are false, leaving them not only alone, but bitter and helpless as well. Smith and Hoskins are perfectly cast in this desolate tale of loneliness.
