The Loss of Nameless Things

In 1978 Oakley Hall III was a 28-year-old playwright on the verge of national acclaim. His work had been optioned by Joseph Papp; Mandy Patinkin and William Hurt starred in staged readings of his plays; and he was the charismatic co-founder and artistic director of the Lexington Conservatory Theater in upstate New York. Then his life was violently interrupted by a fall from a bridge; he suffered major head injuries, was hospitalized for a year and incapacitated much longer. His career was considered over. But 25 years later, a theater in Northern California bid to stage the very play Hall had been working on when he fell, and he was asked to participate as playwright and consultant. This film is the haunting story of Hall's fall from grace, and a hard-won resurrection to a creative life.
