About This Film
Film Overview
A Virtual Reality documentary series that explores cutting-edge science and engineering. In this episode, LISTENING TO THE UNIVERSE, travel billions of light years away with the scientists of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) and witness two black holes collide. A century ago, Einstein predicted the existence of gravitational waves—ripples in spacetime—but believed they were so small that humans would never observe them. More recently, an MIT physics professor did the math and concluded that Einstein was wrong. And in 2016, LIGO succeeded. The Possible: Listening to the Universe is part of a documentary series that also includes the Virtual Reality film The Possible: Hello, Robot. Part of the Perspectives exhibition for immersive storytelling, featuring Interactive Media, Virtual Reality, and more.
