The Shadow of Victory

Jeroen Krabbe, star of THE FOURTH MAN, stars here as one of the most controversial figures in WWII Holland, Peter van Dijk. As leader of the resistance, he has chosen action and violence in the form of raids against the Germans. David Blumberg is a Jewish intellectual who undermines the Germans by portraying a general who authorizes the deportation of Jews to safety. The two men clash when Blumberg decides to betray van Dijk to the Germans in order to save his own family. The film is an intelligent and moving examination of heroism, cowardice, and the grey area in between.
