Josefin Neldén (“Border”) stars as Swedish long-distance athlete Sally Bauer, who fought against naysayers, overwhelming sexism, and the whispers of war in her pursuit of swimming the English Channel in 1939, becoming the first Scandinavian to do so.In southern Sweden, during the summer of 1939, World War II is looming. Sally Bauer, a 30-year-old single mother, can’t tear herself away from the sea. She is determined to become the first Scandinavian to swim the English Channel. Facing social pressure and sanctioned by her family, who threatens to take her son away, she confronts conventions and fiercely crawls her way through a record-breaking journey.
