Film Overview

After seeing this movie, we formulated a new theory about what that precious, glowing thing in the briefcase was in “Pulp Fiction.” It was a suit. Ah, but no ordinary suit! A spotlessly white suit, white like banana ice cream . . . white like a cloud in the sky on a summer night . . . white like the snow on a mountaintop above a village in Mexico . . . For five Hispanic men in East LA, it's a suit that makes dreams come true. Guitarist Dominguez can strum and sing peerless mariachi melodies. Intellectual Villanazul delivers speeches that rouse crowds to their feet. Young Martniez can finally catch the attention of the prettiest girl in the barrio. Street person Vamenos – he'll have to take a bath first. And as for Gomez, the petty con artist who convinces the men to pool their resources and buy the suit together, it may be his ticket to a better life. How the quintet shares its bounty during one eventful Saturday night was the subject of Ray Bradbury's classic short story, here joyously tailored for the screen, suit-able for all ages (and sizes), with an ensemble cast made to measure.
