About This Film
Film Overview
One of Ireland’s biggest films in 2016, THE YOUNG OFFENDERS is the hilarious crime romp inspired by the 2007 true story of 1.5 tons of cocaine seized off the coast of West Cork we’ve all been waiting for. Conor and Jock are two inner-city teenagers spending their time dressing alike, behaving alike, and being general menaces to society. But, when the largest cocaine seizure in Ireland’s history occurs not far from their hometown, they hatch a plan to make some money. THE YOUNG OFFENDERS follows these two lads as they steal bikes, trek the countryside, elude an obsessed police officer, choke their chicken, and basically Forrest Gump their way to the shore in search of millions of dollars worth of coke. Reminiscent of Guy Ritchie’s early work, director Peter Foott’s stylistic full-length debut hits on all comedic cylinders – outrageous characters, terrific music, and an engaging story that has you rooting for the “bad” guys. – T.W.
