A gritty, crime-filled tale of forbidden love, TILT takes us to the bleak streets of early 1990s Bulgaria, a time of political and social upheaval in Europe. Under this communist regime, pornography is illegal, Westernization is more than frowned-upon, and skateboards are unaffordable. Unfortunately, these are all part of the lives of Stash and his delinquent crew. When Stash meets the introverted yet striking Becky, a passionate love affair ensues, threatening to cause turmoil among the close friends—even more so when the four are arrested and learn that Becky is the daughter of the unapproving Colonel Katev. The only way for them to escape prison is for Stash and Becky to stop seeing each other. After an unsuccessful attempt to run away and build a new life in Germany, Stash and his friends return to Bulgaria the first chance they get. But once back, they realize everything in Bulgaria has changed, even Becky. (In Bulgarian with subtitles) – M.M.
