About This Film
Film Overview
A digital clock implanted in your wrist that counts down the seconds until you meet your One True Love can be pretty distracting. Indeed, perky orthodontist Oona (Emma Caulfield of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) can't think about anything else. She's adorable and has a thriving practice, but she's pushing 30 and there's still no sign of Mr. Right. These days, of course, almost everybody has timers, unless they come from someplace like Michigan. But Oona's family are standard confused Californians. Oona's big problem is that her timer is blank, indicating Mr. Right has yet to have his own timer implanted. Her stepsister Steph, Oona's partner in timer-countdown angst, is a lonely wisecracker. Oona's nervousness builds when her 14-year-old brother reaches legal age for timer implantation. Then there's her mother, the delightfully ditzy JoBeth Williams, who divorced her dad after her timer said he wasn't The One. Her nerves stretched like rubber bands, Oona is standing in line at the grocery store when a scruffy checkout kid barely out of his teens hits on her. Condescendingly amused, but also hungry for love, she ends up getting back in line for more. Even though their timing is all wrong, Oona and Mikey (John Patrick Amedori, “Gossip Girls”) start a passionate relationship. Should they carry on even though destiny will keep them apart? Should you not even date 'til you've finally found your mate? If a biotech gadget tells you a perfect stranger is The One, should you believe it? – B.B
