About This Film
Film Overview
Robert Corna's TINY TEARS focuses on four countries at the center of the AIDS epidemic – Thailand, Uganda, Brazil, and the United States – and looks at special needs children living – and thriving – despite having the disease. In Thailand, Corna meets Bow, a lively, inquisitive young girl living with other HIV/AIDS children at the Agape group home for orphans. As we learn about Bow's background, and the reasons she needs some major facial reconstructive surgery to correct birth defects, we also find out that Bow just wants to be normal. During his visits to Uganda and Brazil, Corna shines a spotlight on some of the people who have made a difference in the lives of children afflicted with AIDS and shows how these countries have contributed to making better lives for these children. Finally, back in the United States, Corna spends a week at Camp Dreamcatcher, a summer camp for children with HIV/AIDS. He gets to know two children who are coping with life with AIDS, and explores why the camp experience has been such a positive one for each of them. – C.K.
