About This Film
Film Overview
Elizabeth, Jeremy, and Harry Martin are perfect children. At least that's what they think. Their single, working mom (Sissy Spacek) finds them to be a real handful, and spends more time that she'd care to nagging them about cleaning up their rooms and staying out of trouble at school. After one particualry bad day (the last day of school, in fact), they've managed to gets things worked up into such a state that Mom has no alternative but to cancel their plans for summer camp, and ground them indefintely. For these three young innocents, (all have been falsely accused), this is the last straw. At the suggestion of their mysterious neighbor, Mrs. Cavour (Maureen Stapleton), they invoke an ancient spell that erases all traces of their mother, and frees them to take a trip downtown to the Mommy Market, where they can pick out a mother more to their liking. (Harry needs one who can make him pancakes!) As they try to find the perfect mom, they slowly come to realize how lucky they already were. Recommended for children ages 8 and up.
