Somewhere in the vast desolate countryside of Russia, the beautiful Natalia lives a lonely and hard life with her brutal and narrow-minded husband. Natalia was married off from an orphanage at the age of 16 and has been living in fear of her husband's raging temper for nearly 20 years. When her husband suddenly dies, Natalia is given a new life, the first one that is worth living. Her eyes soon open to all of the opportunities that await her, and it doesn't hurt that she has inherited a decent amount of property and money. When she meets the trucker, Sergey, she seems to find true love at last. But it becomes clear to Natalia that Sergey may not only be looking for love. Still she finds that using Sergey as a test of her desirability as a woman unlocks a side within her that she has never known before. TRAVELLING WITH PETS, the Grand Prize Winner of the Moscow Film Festival, is a poetically paced testimonial to the strength that every woman possesses, and it stands in as a tribute to all women who have had to overcome unforeseen obstacles to tap that strength.
