About This Film
Film Overview
A sobering, grim narrative about the relationship that builds between a volatile widower with a drinking problem and a timid Christian charity worker, TYRANNOSAUR courageously and tactfully covers the difficult subject of domestic abuse. Joseph, played by a daring and astounding Peter Mullan, is a tormented, temperamental man who is beyond lonely. Constantly getting into trouble, he finds himself taking cover in a charity shop, run by the submissive, sweet soul Hannah. Although Joseph initially berates Hannah for her seemingly cushy, frivolous life, he finds himself returning to her shop day after day. When Hannah starts showing up at work with bruises on her face, Joseph begins to realize that maybe Hannah doesn't have it so easy after all. In fact, Hannah suffers from an intensely abusive marriage, wherein her husband not only beats her, but aggressively degrades and humiliates her. Ultimately, the two discover they have more in common than they thought and turn to each other for salvation. – M.M.
