Cindy Williams and Harry Dean Stanton star in this frenetic tale of a woman who is preparing for the end of the world. Convinced of an imminent earthly disaster, Arlene (Williams), a check-out girl, awaits the arrival of a ship from outer space that will save her and those who follow her. The cynical itinerant preacher Brother Bud (Stanton) sees Arlene and her firends as a prime exploitation opportunity, and adds them to his schedule of revival meetings and stolen car sales.
