Welcome in Vienna

Set in post-war Vienna and reminiscent of THE THIRD MAN in both atmosphere and theme, WELCOMe IN VIENNA is especially timely, revealing what many Austrians still deny today. Freddy is one of a group of Austrian-Americans in Vienna with the American army to set up the new military government of the occupation. He falls in love with a young actress and finds himself surrounded by anti-Semitism, lies, ungenerated Nazis, the black market and corruption. With the pervading morally ambiguous atmosphere, can he remain “pure” himself? Based on the experiences of the screenplay's co-writer, the film excels in its perfectly recreated sense of time and place, fine acting and intelligent, probing script.
