Johann Goethe's THE SUFFERINGS OF YOUNG WERTHER is updated in this sensitive adatation of the classic tragedy, set here in present-day Spain. When a young man arrives in a small norther village to teach Greek at a private school, the headmaster asks him to tutor a young boy. After a short time, the boy's mother, who has been separated from her husband for a few years, becomes the object of the teacher's unbridled passions. But his pessimism and radical nature contribute to the ultimate demise of his work, his love, and his life.
