Wetlands

WETLANDS tells the story of Helen, an unruly young woman who's fascinated with anything disturbing and perverted. Suffering from hemorrhoids, she's anal-obsessed and loves to do anything her mother warned against—including incredibly unsanitary things with public toilet seats. Vegetables are often not used as food, and her pizza fantasy will make you rethink delivery. She enjoys simple things like skateboarding barefoot, but she's usually coked out when doing it. Helen is open about everything, which makes those around her uncomfortable. However, there's something refreshing about her that makes it hard not to like her. When shaving, she cuts herself, causing a complication that sends her to the hospital. Her parents are unfazed by her behavior and seem bothered by having to visit. This brings out a more emotional side of Helen. Underneath the gross sexual antics and drugs is a fragile girl dealing with a very dark secret. WETLANDS is an extremely wild ride that constantly pushes the limits with its antics, but has the intelligence and heart to back it all up. (In German with subtitles) —E.F.
