About This Film
Film Overview
In 1987, director Rangel Valchanov created the Bulgarian cult classic, “Where Do We Go From Here?” In it, 26 aspiring actors are confined on a stage for an “audition” in front of “The Commission.” The Commission, only seen as shadowy figures and disembodied voices, delivers commanding directives from the back of the theater. The actors respond, as each waits expectantly for the Commission's “decision.” It was a bizarre mind-game: part manipulation and coercion; part psychological experiment. Twenty years later, Valchanov organizes an extravagant reunion. It is a chance for the actors, now scattered across the globe, to reconnect and compare their former hopes with their present lives. How will each compare to their younger, fresher, more hopeful selves? As the director is lauded and feted, the ensemble members soon realize they are being pulled back into the same web of contrivance and mystery. The actors, some still working in theater and some moving on to other enterprises in their lives, compare what has happened against what could have been. And, like any good reunion, emotions and nostalgia run high in WHICH WAY TODAY. -CCP
