About This Film
Film Overview
Every teacher has a dream of turning a problem student into a productive member of society. For the teachers of one New Hampshire high school, that student was Kelsey Carroll. Dealing with drugs and sexual abuse, Kelsey is one of this nation's two million adolescent students also battling a learning disability. Kelsey must juggle work, a broken family, an uninterested boyfriend, and ADHD in order to attain her goal of graduating after spending five years in a school with one of New Hampshire's highest dropout rates. With all odds against her, WHO CARES ABOUT KELSEY? documents this brave young girl's struggle to assimilate herself into the school's study programs where she can get the help to pass her classes. A personal and endearing look into the life of an immature girl as she grows into an influential young woman and the mentors who guided her, this film is a powerful reminder that we all need help along the way. Thanks to educators who care and the progress she is able to make, Kelsey rises above the odds and strives to make the grade. –T.W.
