CIFF congratulates screenwriter Danny Colvin-Lovett, winner of the 2025 short screenplay contest. Danny will receive a $500 cash prize for his script, JUNKIE. CIFF50 participants will also be able to attend a table read of his winning screenplay at next year’s Festival.

Danny Colvin-Lovett is a writer based in Northeast, Ohio, who prides himself on transcending his lived experiences as a Black, gay, Christian man and creating stories that blend genres. In addition to writing screenplays, he writes poetry, songs, novels, and stage plays. In 2015, he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in an original musical stage production, “It’s Midnight,” which featured a 40-member cast.
