Closing Night Celebration: Power Ballad and a Party

The Festival concluded with a special Closing Night screening of Power Ballad, presented by Lionsgate, and a closing night party, bringing audiences together for a final celebration of storytelling and community.

From writer-director John Carney (Sing Street, Once), Power Ballad blends humor and heart in a music-driven story about ambition, creativity, and second chances. The film follows Rick (Paul Rudd), a once-promising wedding singer whose career has stalled, and Danny (Nick Jonas), a former boy-band star searching for a comeback. After the two connect during a late-night jam session, Danny transforms one of Rick’s original songs into a breakout hit—launching his own resurgence while leaving Rick grappling with questions of ownership, recognition, and self-worth. As Rick attempts to reclaim what he believes is rightfully his, the film explores the tension between friendship and ambition, and the personal cost of chasing success in the spotlight.
